Decorative Inlay
- There is an intricate little decorative inlay on one side of the handle.
- It might reminds you a bit of the family crests which the samurai of Japan once used to mark their most valued possessions.
Smoothly Cutting
- The core is made of VG-10, a very desirable grade of steel for knife blades.
- The outer faces of the blade are made of alternating layers of SUS430 and SUS431.
- The knifemakers are able to exploit the differences in hardness and/or corrosion resistance to bring out the visible damascus pattern on the finished blade.
"BAMBOO" Pakkawood Handle
- Pakkawood is formed by selecting hardwood veneers and impregnating them with phenolic thermoset resins, and sometimes dyes.
- This composite material becomes very solid and dense through extreme heat and pressure.

Stunning! This is a knife you won’t see anywhere else! It is beautifully different! It is well constructed of a carbon stainless steel. It has a full tang and is nicely balanced in the hand. It was very sharp, I haven’t had it long enough to need it sharpened again so I can’t comment about the ease of sharpening as of yet. If I have any issues I will update. For the quality and the beautiful box it comes in which screams giftgiving, I find this to be a very reasonable price.
This is the greatness knife I have ever owned. It is always sharp (be careful) and will order additional knives to complete the set.
Ok, where to start? This knife is serious! If you are serious about cooking, serious about slicing and dicing, serious about showing off, serious about life in general, well this knife is for you. If you read the description, it talks about it being a Damascus knife with 67 layers of metal and VG-10 or something like that. I didn't know what all those things meant (now I do) prior to purchasing. And to tell you the truth, that jargon didn't impress me. What I wanted to know was is the knife durable? Does it cut well? Is it aesthetically pleasing? Well, the answers are a resounding yes, YES, DOUBLE YES!!!! This blade is extremely impressive. It cuts through tomatoes, steak, watermelon, whatever you throw at it, like a razor blade. It's thick, but not too thick. It's very sharp. Looks to be very durable. And the handle is super cool looking. You can tell that you are dealing with quality here.
Think that about covers it. It's really an amazing knife that can probably be handed down for generations. If you are in the market for a high quality chef's knife, stop looking and get this baby. You certainly will not be dissapointed, and will probably want to buy another to gift to someone special.
First off, I love the design! One of the first things that caught my eye about this knife is the mosaic pin. The sakkawood handle feels great in the hand - my fingers fit perfectly along the raised edges and I feel comfortable handling this knife. The blade itself is SHARP (see my included video) and while the Damascus doesn’t run to the edge of the blade - it does create and emphasize a beautiful etched pattern on the side of the blade, coupled with the sakkawood handle and the mosaic pin make this a very aesthetically pleasing knife.
Apologies. I don’t have time to do a full review. So I will be concise.
Amazon recommended this as a less expensive alternative to another knife that I was looking at.
It had hundreds of positive reviews - so I bought it -on sale at around $79.
It came in a nice box- wrapped nicely - with 2 small covers.
Surprisingly- and to my shock! - I cut myself on the first use! It is like a razor- it took a solid second for the blood to appear.
Once bitten - twice shy. But I bandaged up and continued testing it.
Worth every bloody cent! (Pun intended).
It slices through meat EFFORTLESSLY- actually with pleasure. My previous knives did okay crusting stewing beef - this one does it like butter.
Veggies are a wiz.
Frozen ribs was a test- my wife had reservations - and semi- thawed the ribs- and had no issue.
I have done frozen meat with a small degree of difficulty- but if I pushed harder - I believe the knife is up to the task. But I didn’t want to - and slightly thawed is best I believe.
The knife is an emerald green and the blade has a nice “patina” to it.
It’s grip is “standard” and acceptable- no issues- but higher end knifes - these days- are being engineered with modern ergonomic grips.
Otherwise it feels comfortable.
I rate this as one of my best knives - the steel is high grade and as stated a composition of strong iron and steel fired.
This is a great knife and good value.
